Competition Begins in 45 Minutes

The wait for the 2024 Paris Olympics is over. While competition has already begun in Paris, the official kickoff for the Games started today along the Seine River.

Despite rain, the roughly four-hour 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony went off without a hitch. Athletes arrived via boat and cruised down the Seine River, waving to the cheering crowds.

The ceremony featured a performance by French singer-songwriter Stromae, as well as a speech by French President Emmanuel Macron. The ceremony ended with a fireworks display over the Eiffel Tower.

• 12:00 PM: Men's basketball: USA vs. France
• 3:00 PM: Women's volleyball: USA vs. Brazil
• 6:00 PM: Men's swimming: 100m freestyle
• 9:00 PM: Women's gymnastics: Team final
