Corlys Velaryon's Fate in the Books
In George R.R. Martin's novel "Fire & Blood," Corlys Velaryon does not die in the Dance of the Dragons. Instead, he survives and goes on to serve as Hand of the Queen during the regency period of King Aegon III's reign.
Current Status
While the exact fate of Corlys Velaryon in House of the Dragon is still unknown, the show appears to be taking a different path than the books. His condition is very severe, and it remains to be seen if he will be able to survive his injuries.
