Contract Includes $35.59 Million Signing Bonus

Watt's Extension Ranks Him Among NFL's Highest-Paid Defenders

PITTSBURGH, PA - The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed defensive lineman TJ Watt to a four-year, $112 million contract extension, the team announced Wednesday.

The deal, which includes a $35.59 million signing bonus, makes Watt one of the highest-paid defenders in the NFL.

Watt, 26, is coming off a breakout season in which he recorded 15 sacks, 23 tackles for loss, and seven forced fumbles.

He was named the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year and was selected to the Pro Bowl and All-Pro teams.

Watt's extension comes as the Steelers look to build on their 12-4 record from last season and make a run at the Super Bowl.
